Chapter 9 - The Confession

She met me at the door in lingerie. Clearly she knows how the male mind works. My eyeballs ached in their sockets just looking at her. She put a cold Castle in my hand.
"Lucky told us everything," she said.
I shook my head.
"No," I corrected. "Lucky told you everything he knew. He doesn't know what's going on inside my head."
"I'd love to hear it."
I looked her over. The teddy she was wearing was sheer across her breasts, with little triangular openings to show off her nipples. I loved that she'd dressed herself up like that after being seduced by another man. She stood in front of me without a shred of shame or guilt.
"I went through your phone," I said.
Her face froze. Panic. Her mind raced over everything saved in there, calculating what I might have seen.
"No," I said, starting again. "Wait. Back up. I secretly recorded what you and Amahle talked about that day at lunch. I heard everything. I heard how you missed your ex and what he had, and then I went through your phone. I found the pictures of you with him. I saw him inside you."
Her jaw had been slowly dropping since I said the word recorded.
"And when you went down to Amahle, I went through your phone again. I know all of that was wrong. I saw the pictures of you with Given."
"You said I could."
"I said once. One damn time. But that doesn't matter. I'm not going to argue about words. I understand how telling you to sleep with him once stretches easily into five times. Once that seal is broken, why not again?"
"That was my thinking."
