"Did you have fun last night?" Andi asks before inhaling her plate of vetkoek and curried vegetable mince.

"Uh . . ." I hesitate. "It was definitely interesting. I'll say that."

I match her massive bite, filling my mouth with all the carbs I can manage from my favourite place in the whole city, a scruffy little café in Glenwood I've been coming to since I was at school. Every item on the brunch menu is to die for, and it's a must any time I'm back in Durban.

I'm sure I'll be regretting this meal when I'm sitting with my mother in a few hours and have to unbutton my jeans in order to breathe, but it'll be worth it.

"What was interesting about it?"

Hmm. Let me think. Maybe that Zondi, walking sex advert, told me he wants to fuck me. Right after he saved me from my inconsiderate school friends, who haven't stopped blowing up my phone since his little public stunt last night.

Or maybe how he pinned me to the wall with that whole body of his, the bulge in his trousers doing all sorts of things to me when it was pressed against the apex of my thighs.

Or how, all of a sudden, this sweet side came out of the self-appointed bad boy of Joburg when he insisted on walking me back to my hotel.

Interesting might not be the right word for last night. Confusing? Thrilling? Shocking?

I would love to spill all the details to Andi, seeing as I've been a ball of emotions ever since, but we're colleagues, and the accidental interaction Zondi and I had last night is a sacking offence.
