Chandré Cupido

"What are we wearing to the party?" I ask Chandré when she steps out of our en suite bathroom in the villa.

It's the night of Sabelo's birthday. The boat brought us round the top of the island overnight. They've bought out a beach club up at Kendwa, and his friends from all over the world have been invited. The group will still be relatively modest in size, but definitely more than the small party that's been sailing with us. It'll be a star-studded thing.

Chandré and I have spent a lazy last day here at the villa — swimming, eating light salads and rich puddings, drinking the rum the chef spices himself with cloves and cardamom out of the garden, and making love with the laughter of our friends floating in on the sea breeze through our open terrace door.

Chandré's fluffy white gown gapes open as she walks into the bedroom, having finished her makeup. Vibrant colour splashes across her eyes, cheeks and lips, setting off the regal upsweep of her braids. The necklace with the diamond C charm she wore to the after-party hangs at her sleek throat, and the square diamond earrings I found in Stone Town are in her ears.

I open the gown wider, touching the elegant line of her shoulders and collarbone, the ripe fullness of her breasts, kissing the smaller right and the slightly bigger left. She giggles, running her hand over my freshly cut hair. Hair she cut out on the terrace this morning when we woke up. I slip my finger between the firm, rounded cheeks of her arse.

"I'm going to fuck you here." When I stroke the puckered entrance, a shudder racks her curvy body. "One day soon."

"I was hoping you'd say that."
