CHAPTER 3: THE WEEKEND
Mmabatho Molefe couldn't help but hum to herself as she cleaned up the dishes after lunch; she was going to get away from her husband today and spend the whole weekend in Bloemfontein with Lesego. Technically it was a regular mission she went on — once every three months she spent a weekend doing spiritual counselling at a homeless shelter — and she would do her mission during the day and help the poor, unfortunate souls, but at night she would be worshipping Lesego and letting him use her in any way he wanted.
The fridge was full of pre-made casseroles; all Tshepo had to do was heat them up for lunches and dinners the next few days. She could feel him in the doorway, staring at her as she cleaned up. "What now, Tshepo?" she asked with annoyance.
"I just hate the idea of you being in the city all by yourself," he replied like a pouting child.
Mmabatho sighed. They had this argument every time she left. She wondered what kind of argument they would have if he knew she was going to be seeing another man while she was there. "Honey, they book me in a nice hotel near the facility, they pick me up and drop me off, there's nothing to worry about."
"I know, I just miss having you around the house," he said. For a moment Mmabatho's heart fluttered at the sentiment, but then he continued, "I like fresh dinners and a clean home, not pre-made casseroles."
Mmabatho rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, I'll be back Monday to do the midday services, and then I'll be right home to take care of you."
