Every marriage has a timetable, but hers had a stopwatch: fifteen minutes, three nights a week, fake moaning on cue. Every small town has its golden couple, but theirs split at eighteen — she went to the city, he stayed on the farm. Twelve years later they collide at a farmers' market between the jam jars and the baby marrows, and the fallout is inevitable: a hay stall, a farmhouse bed, a shower, and a promise he makes out loud more than once. Nobody plans to get caught. Somebody always does — except this time the evidence arrives on two little lines in a chemist's bathroom, and her husband had himself snipped years ago, so there is no explaining this one away over a scheduled fifteen minutes.
