CHAPTER 2: AFTER HOURS
Nompumelelo slipped the black lace into his waiting hand. Her fingers shook. Philani held the panties for a beat as if he had all the time in the world, then tucked them inside his jacket.
“I can tell you are enjoying yourself,” he said.
She swallowed. “I am.”
“Good.”
Lunch came and went in fragments. He asked her to undo one more button, and she did it with her back to the room. His hand covered one breast beneath the table, firm and deliberate. The touch made her breath catch. When he drew away, she wanted to follow his hand like it had left something inside her.
Outside, rain had begun to press against the pavement in thin silver strokes. At the BMW, he ran his palm down her back and squeezed her through the skirt. Nompumelelo looked around too quickly.
“Relax,” he said. “I told you I would not put you where you do not want to be.”
In the parkade, she reached the edge of her patience. Before he could switch off the engine, she pulled her skirt up over her hips, caught his hand, and pressed it against the heat between her thighs.
“Please,” she said. “I cannot go back upstairs feeling like this.”
Philani looked at her for a long second. Then he shifted the seat back.
“Move closer to the edge. Lie back.”
She did. He opened her blouse slowly, exposing her one button at a time, his fingertips taking their time over every patch of skin he uncovered. When his mouth closed over her breast, Nompumelelo’s hand gripped the door handle. His other hand moved between her legs, first teasing and then giving her the pressure she had been begging for.
