The Comets are at home this week, which means I've got some time off. And even better, there's no cricket tonight, so I finally get to spend some time with my brother.

Though I've yet to see him today. He had a net session this morning, then a press conference this afternoon, but we're going to the cinema tonight. A little twin bonding moment, if you will. I've stayed curled up on the couch in his amazing flat, waiting for him to get back from the Wanderers.

I'm not kidding. This building is insane. The Halliwell went up about four years ago, and Menzi bought in a year later, when the Lions signed him. He isn't on the penthouse floor, but he's a couple of levels below it, and the view off that wraparound balcony is epic. North over the treetops you can see the whole Sandton skyline, and turn around and there's the Hillbrow Tower and the CBD stacked up behind it.

The view isn't all that pretty today, though, simply because it's been coming down all afternoon. The first proper storm of the season — cloud piling up over Jozi by three o'clock, twenty violent minutes of rain and hail, then steam lifting off the tar on Jellicoe Avenue like the road was on fire. I'd typically be at the shelter on my days off, but the dogs weren't getting their afternoon walks in that, so they didn't really need my help.

Instead, I've stayed curled up on the couch, wearing my comfiest and ugliest tracksuit pants.
