"Stop being a little creep and come sit down."
My sister's words pull my attention away from the sprawling floor-to-ceiling window in my penthouse and back to the table where she and my dad sit, post-dinner.
"I'm not being a creep, Thobs."
Okay, that's a lie. I am being a creep, but I watched Vuyi's family walk into The Halliwell an hour ago, so I know she got my gift, and yet, I still haven't heard from her.
Maybe she didn't like it? I already felt like an idiot buying her something. Let alone buying her fucking tracksuit pants.
Who buys a girl trackies for Christmas?
Also, who buys a Christmas present for their last hookup?
I do. That's who. Fucking idiot.
"Then why have you been looking back and forth between your phone and that damn window every five seconds?"
"Thobs, can you not call me out like that, please?"
Taking a seat across from my dad and next to my sister, Thobeka tries to snag my phone out of my hand. But I'm a professional athlete, so I'm plenty quick to hold that shit above my head and out of her reach.
"Why are you being so weird tonight?" Those light amber eyes of hers, the ones the two of us got off our mother, shine with a knowing glint.
"I'm not. Chill out."
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Her mouth falls open in disbelief.
"What? Fuck no. Have you met me?"
"Yes, Nathi, I have. Do you have a girlfriend? Is she hot? Would I be into her?" Thobs's grabby hands try to pull my arm down, wanting my phone, but I keep it far away from her.
For a thirty-year-old attorney, when it comes to women, she really turns into a teenage girl.
